Tteokbokki Recipe ! 떡볶이~

Hey all today i make a new achievement !
Which is cooking korean snack, it may look easy and sound easy
but the taste will come out whatever u did.
I could only say i get pretty nervous when i saw there's something
boiling here and there and there's so many steps to follow but i didn't.
I could only say i'm pretty slow when it comes to cooking XDD

So this was my first time making Tteokbokki !

Tteokbokki (also known as topokki)[1] is a popular Korean snack
food made from soft rice cake, fish cake and sweet red chili sauce.

[2]
It is commonly purchased from  street vendors or pojangmacha.
Originally it was called
tteok jjim (떡찜) and was a savory
braised dish of sliced
rice cake, meat, eggs, and seasoning.

Plucked from Wikipedia

Since i been asking a lot from my friend how to make it,
i decided to blog it at here !

For 2 persons
rice cakes (300g) - I only use half from the package
1/2 green onion, cut into 1 inch pieces
- bits of garlic
- 2 hard-boiled eggs (optional)- fish cake / squid (optional but i didn't include inside it)
Sauce
: I been using the one i bought from Isetan Klcc

( Chung Jung One ) - RM7.50

Steps :
-Because my sauce doesn't applied much on a big serving
thus i only use half of it.
- Pour a glass of water in a pan, add all the ingredients for sauce with garlic,
you may add on some chopped carrots or vegetable as u desired.
- Over medium high heat, heat the sauce for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.

On the other hand you may boil another pot of hot water
to cook your egg.
After done, you may want to leave it
on a bowl of cold water to
cool down the heat and remove the shells afterwards.

( Boil around 4-5 minutes on the hot water )

- Have your green onions chopped to 1 inch piece.
-
Add in rice cakes, onion, and fish cakes.

Then simmer for about 10 minutes, or until the sauce is reduced in half.

- Taste and add ketchup or more red pepper paste, sugar, or corn syrup as desired.

- Finally add in green onion and hard-boiled eggs and simmer for 2 more minutes.

Well and that's all ! You're done !

Chewy ricecake in spicy red pepper sauce.
It’s sweet, savory, and spicy all at once.

Hope you will like this recipe.
xx
